The South Carolina Aeronautics Commission is in the process of updating two important studies: our Statewide Aviation System Plan and our Statewide Economic Impact Study.  There are a number of interview, research, survey, and outreach efforts that are underway to support these two studies.

As part of the outreach efforts, we are interested in hearing from you, the pilots who fly into the public-use airports in South Carolina.  As you use airports in the state, it is possible that you have observed, first-hand, opportunities to enhance the performance of one or more public-use airports.
Airports in South Carolina serve different customers and play diverse roles in the state airport system.  As a result, it is appropriate for airports to have different facilities and to provide varying levels of service to meet the needs of their users.  While individual airport improvements are best established locally as part of an airport master plan, the State Airport System Plan provides a higher level framework for establishing airport needs.  By responding to the matrix below, you can help establish that framework.  Please provide specific improvements by airport that could help improve the overall performance of the South Carolina airport system.

Example: Current runway length is 4,200 feet/5,000-foot runway is desired.  In the “runway” block enter: Extend runway to 5,000 feet.

The Aeronautics Commission is also documenting the economic benefits of public airports.  Part of this documentation includes identifying specific users, including South Carolina businesses, that rely on the airport system to improve their efficiency.  In the last column of the following matrix, please provide as much information as possible on business users and other health, welfare, and safety users of South Carolina airports.
